3D Television looked promising when it was first introduced. The idea of being able to watch your favorite movies or tv shows in full 3D was exciting to many, including myself. However, the hype has not yet quite lived up to the reality.

First off 3D tv's are expensive, too expensive for most to purchase. You need to wear 3D glasses that are also expensive, they are often bulky and not very comfortable. Many people just don't enjoy wearing them.

The experience at home, is still quite a bit less than the one at my local movie theatre. Some people report feeling dizzy or even sick when watching 3D television. While the home experience is not bad, it's far from what you get at a cinema.

Bottom line is that it's just to early to buy a 3D television. The cost isn't worth it right now, because the experience doesn't live up to the hype. There just is not enough 3D content out there to warrant the added expense.

Maybe in a few years when the bugs are worked out and the technology is refined a bit, we can truly achieve a great home 3D experience. Untill then, I suggest you stick to 3D at your local movie theatre.

4K televisions offer pictures in Ultra High definition, the quality is so stunning because the picture is actually 4 times sharper than a standard 1080p TV.

The television manufacturing industry is pushing this new technology to replace older high-definition televisions. Right now the TV's cost more than their predecessors, but the price is slowly coming down to something more affordable.

A few years ago these Ultra High-Def 4K televisions cost up to $20,000 a piece, while most can be had now for less than $2,000. A substantial reduction in price that is truly favorable for the consumer.

Consumers seem to like the new technology and watching television and movies are a favorite pastime of most Americans.

Hollywood has been filming many of their new movies in the 4K format, this means that many newly released movies will likely be available in 4K. Television however has a way to go to catch up to the new technology.

Another benefit of the of 4K televisions is they don't need any special accessories like glasses to watch. This was one of the biggest detractors from the 3-D television market.

It seems that most of the major players are making 4K televisions right now. Sony, Toshiba, Samsung, Panasonic and LG are all currently manufacturing these new ultra high-definition models.

If you're in the market for a new TV this year, you will certainly want to consider a Ultra High-Def 4K television.

Ranking television brands
is not always an easy task. TVs can vary from model to model and even set to set. However there is a general consensus of who makes the best televisions.

Probably the leader in television quality is Sony. Most Sony televisions offer excellent quality picture and great reliability. They generally cost the most of any other television brand as well.

Two other high-quality brands of televisions are Samsung and LG. Samsung offers great reliability, high picture quality and overall fair pricing.

LG also makes a great television set, they get high marks for quality.

So if you are looking for a high-quality television set, your top 3 choices should be a Sony, Samsung or LG.

I would also recommend Toshiba for reliability. They probably make better computers, yet they also make some pretty darn good television sets. Toshiba is a brand that offers great value as well.

The great thing is that there are many choices for consumers that are educated. Most cell providers offer 2 basic types of plans, contract plans and prepaid. Contract plans require you to sign a contract with the cell phone carrier. Most cell phone carriers make you sign 1 year or longer commitments, often times a contractual plan will offer a discount on the phone. Cell Phones For Kids

Sooner or later your child is going to want his or her own cell phone. These gadgets are all the rage today and they are highly prized by teens and preteens alike. Follow these tips when you feel that your child is ready for their own cell phone.

Make sure that you feel that the child is old enough and mature enough to handle the responsibility of a cell phone. Kids can't wait to grow up nowadays and to them that includes a cell phone. Talk about getting the phone in advance, discuss how they will use the phone and take care of it. If they receive an allowance or get money from chores or birthday's and want a cell phone. Discuss how they will save up for one, or how they will contribute to the cost and maintenance of a phone.

Be sure to monitor the usage of the phone, especially for younger kids. Make sure you know who they are calling and texting. You should be aware of who they are communicating with and how the phone is being used.

A cell phone is a good way for your children to keep in constant contact with you. They can immediately inform you of a any change in plans, make it known that this is one thing you now expect. Most of the new phones have built in GPS and using this feature you can monitor where your child is at all times. This is another good reason for your child to have a cell phone. They can also contact you or help in case of an emergency.

Older children like teenagers are likely going to want the coolest, most expensive new phones. If they want one of these phones, so be it, just make sure that they pay at least 50% of the cost associated with the phone. If they want an expensive gadget like an iPhone or Samsung Galaxy they should have a job and be willing to contribute. If the child is getting excellent grades in school then a cool cell phone may be a way to reward them for working hard.

Just remember that you should discuss the pitfalls of kids and phones. No inappropriate texting or photos should ever be sent using their phones. They should never lend the phones to a friend or anyone else. Make sure that they know the type of plan that you have and the cost associated with it upfront. You don't want any large surprise bills later, say from your teenager sending thousands of text messages or pics.

If given the chance, most young people can handle the use of a cell phone. It is a great way for them to prove that they are responsible and trustworthy.

Bottom line is that a kid having a cell phone is not a bad thing, just a decision that should be made as a family.

Unlock Cell Phones (rules and regulations regarding unlocking a mobile phone)

If you thought about unlocking your cell phone and switching to another carrier, you better think twice. A new ruling buy the Library of Congress recently put an end to this idea with a landmark ruling that borders on the absurd.

This new ruling makes it illegal to unlock your cell phone and by doing so you risk up to 5 years in jail and a fine of $500,000. This applies even if your subsidized smartphone or tablet is no longer under contract with any particular carrier. Say what?

The reason for the change, in their opinion, is that this makes it much harder for thieves to unlock these devices. So they are in effect just protecting us consumers from potential mayhem.

However, to me sounds like another case of lobbyists gone wild and another way for the cell phone carriers to keep you tethered to them like a good old ball and chain.

You can always buy the cell phone unlocked from the beginning, you will however have to pay a much higher retail type price.
